This beautiful, Sterling Silver pendant is inspired by stormy days on the Cornish coast and finding beauty in amongst the 'grey.'
It's a one of a kind piece of jewellery, with a statement, contemporary chain, along with the recognisable Stormy Seas dome design.
The chain links are formed from wire in to triangular shapes that are soldered together to create each link. The links are joined and move independently of each other via short Sterling Silver tubes. The chain is 30 inches long, to the back it's finished with an interlocking clasp that fits seamlessly in to the chain design. To the front, the chain meets at a 6 sided geometric link that allows for the perfect display of the pendant dome. The entire chain and clasp is finished with a brushed texture.
This pendant is formed of a disc of Sterling Silver that's been shaped in to a dome. The dome measures aprox 2.8cm (28mm) at it's widest/tallest point. The depth if the dome is aprox 0.7cm (7mm).
The inside of the dome has been treated with an oxidising treatment to blacken it, which has been lightly polished. The polishing process removes some of the colour and also gives it a sheen that changes the intensity of colour - depending on which direction you look at it, it looks various shades of grey and black, just like a stormy sky! Half of the concave dome is then textured again and small sections of the blackened, polished surface are hand engraved to reveal the silver - it's this that is representative of the ferocious sea.
The edge of the dome is flat, front facing and has been polished for contrast against the inside of the blackened dome.
This unique, contemporary design would make a great gift for anyone drawn to the coast and the sea, or who perhaps needs a little reminder that beauty can be found on the greyest of days... A fabulous, statement piece of jewellery to treasure!
