This is a custom order for Alan Payne.
This Sterling Silver pendant is inspired by stormy days on the Cornish coast and finding beauty in amongst the 'grey.'
This pendant will be formed from disc of Sterling Silver measuring 30mm. It will have some light shaping to it, making a shallow dome shape. As a result, the shaped pice will be a little under 30mm.
The inside of the dome will be treated with an oxidising treatment to blacken it, which has been lightly polished. The polishing process removes some of the colour and also gives it a sheen that changes the intensity of colour - depending on which direction you look at it, it looks various shades of grey and black, just like a stormy sky! Half of the concave dome is then textured again and small sections of the blackened, polished surface are hand engraved to reveal the silver - it's this that is representative of the ferocious sea.
The edge of the dome is flat, front facing and has been polished for contrast against the inside of the blackened dome. The necklace has tubular style bail.
